4 reasons to drink more water

If you think you’re not getting enough water…

  • Carry a water bottle for easy access when you are at work of running errands.
  • Freeze some freezer safe water bottles. Take one with you for ice-cold water all day long.
  • Choose water instead of sugar-sweetened beverages. Substituting water for one 20-ounce sugar sweetened soda will save you about 240 calories.
  • Choose water when eating out. Generally, you will save money and reduce calories.
  • Add a wedge of lime or lemon to your water. This can help improve the taste and help you drink more water than you usually do.

How to speed up your metabolism

Your body burns 2 to 5% fewer calories with each decade after age 40. I just Googled the word metabolism, and up came over 90 million results, including advice promising to help me ignite my Skinny Gene. I have a Skinny Gene? Who knew? The truth is, there are almost as many myths about metabolism, as there are about global warming.

There’s lots of metabolism increasing “techniques”, that in the grand scheme of things are, in my opinion, ridiculous. Here’s an example: True or False: Your body burns more calories digesting ice-cold beverages and foods.

An important measure of your heart’s health

It would not be uncommon among a group of guys, for one of the men who’s been lifting weights to build his biceps, to push up his sleeves, lift and bend his arms, tighten his fists, and flex his biceps. Breathe right when exercising and lower your heart rate

Differences in breathing between men and women – Even when the smaller physical size of women is taken into account, their lungs are still smaller than men’s. Women also have narrower airways (breathing tubes), which means it’s harder to move air in and out of the lungs. Because women are unable to ‘heavy breathe’ as well as men in response to strenuous exercise, research has shown that many women may experience a drop in the amount of oxygen in their blood and a corresponding increase in their breathlessness.
